Careers & Education :: AFTA online AND THE 2009 AVIS SCHOLARSHIP WINNER IS.....
| AFTA would like to congratulate Lisa Upton of Harvey World Travel in Noosa, who was named the 13th winner of the prestigious Avis Travel Agent Scholarship of Excellence, at a gala dinner held at the Four Seasons Hotel, Sydney on 13th October 2009.
Lisa is the third Harvey World Travel consultant to take out this scholarship, which recognises travel consultants who demonstrate a commitment to outstanding customer service.
She was chosen from among 6 finalists, who each presented to the Avis Travel Agents Advisory Board, which is comprised of industry personnel, including AFTA Chief Executive, Jayson Westbury and representatives of leading leisure and corporate travel groups.
AFTA also congratulates the other five finalists, who were:
Jillian Murray – Southside Business & Leisure Travel, Woree, QLD
Angelina Stimson – Globetrotter Corporate Travel, Nedlands, WA
Kylie Afzal – Corporate Travel Management, Brisbane, QLD
Leanne Downie – Spencer Travel, Surry Hills, NSW
Carine Ernest – Corporate Travel Management, Sydney, NSW
Avis Travel Industry Manager Russell Butler said that Lisa displayed an intense focus on establishing and maintaining long-term relationships with clients and suppliers alike.
“It is clear that Lisa treats every customer who walks through the door as an important individual with unique needs” he said.
As the 2009 winner, Lisa receives two return business class tickets on Qantas to New York and six nights luxury hotel accommodation, as well as:
* Seven days car rental from Avis
* $1000 worth of foreign exchange products from American Express
* A personal online behavioural profile and three consultation sessions with a Polonious Resources business coach
* Four ICCA cruise training modules
* A one year honorary position on the Avis Travel Agents Advisory Board
* A tour of Avis’ World Headquarters in New York and site visits to US agencies
