The European Commission has adopted the 19th update of the European list of air carriers which are for safety reasons subject to an operating ban or operational restrictions within the European Union.

American Airlines files for reorganisation under Chapter 11

During this time, dealings with passengers and travel agents are unaffected. AA will operate its regular flight schedule and all tickets and reservations will be honoured.

To improve safety in Europe further, the European Commission – in consultation with Member States’ aviation safety authorities – has decided to ban airlines found to be unsafe from operating in European airspace.

Qantas announces US Customer Care Plan in response to new DoT Consumer Protection Laws in USA - August 2011

The first set of the United States Department of Transportation's new Rules for Enhancing Airline Passenger Protections legally take effect on 23 August 2011.
Further regulations which form part of the new rules are due to take effect from 24 January 2012.
