The Australian Federation of Travel Agents Ltd (AFTA) is seeking a research, policy, advocate and motivated person to join our team based in Sydney to drive the travel and tourism industry policy agenda with Federal and State government as well as industry stakeholders.
This is a diverse role which will require frequent domestic travel and some overnight stays interstate, sound research and policy skills along with an ability to write submissions and debate the positions being taken by AFTA on a range of subject matters.
Ideally, we are looking for a person with 5 years’ experience in a policy role and with a sound understanding of the political process and workings of government. Some current federal staffer connections will be highly regarded.
You will be responsible for managing research and policy development, stakeholder relationships, requiring excellent written and verbal communications skills. A relevant tertiary qualification in a related field such as tourism, economics or politics is preferred. The role includes a range of diverse tasks and projects and needs a motivated self starter who works well under pressure.
AFTA is a small but effective team working environment, you will be reporting directly to the Chief Executive and will need to represent AFTA at events, conferences and other activates from time to time. An ability to speak publically is required.
