'Pack Some Peace of Mind' 

- A National Consumer Awareness Campaign

On 25th August 2014, Australia's state and territory government consumer affairs and fair trading agencies launched a multi-million dollar national campaign, "Pack some peace of mind".

The campaign sort to inform Australians about recent changes to travel agent laws and educates consumers on the smarter ways to book travel such as through an ATAS accredited travel agent.

AFTA worked closely with the various government agencies in the development of the campaign and ATAS participants should take comfort knowing that they were part of a multi-million dollar campaign across traditional advertising (radio & print) as well as digital and social platforms.

The campaign aim were:ATAS, AFTA, Campaign, Peace of mind

  • create awareness of changes in the travel industry and how this impacts Australian consumers
  • educate Australians on the questions they need to ask before buying travel and travel products
  • educate Australians on how to seek a remedy if something goes wrong with a travel purchase.

The campaign had a dedicated website which has now ceased,

AFTA's own marketing efforts continue as we have an ongoing committed to raising consumer awareness of ATAS and encourages consumers to always book travel with an ATAS accredited travel agent. 

The Australian Consumer Law (ACL) is now the main legislation covering the conduct of travel agents. There is a series of guides on the various rights and remedies in the ACL, including a guide for the travel and accommodation industry. Download a copy below.
