With cooler winter weather and blue skies, Dubai’s peak season is packed with world-class events and this month we’ve seen visitors to the city indulge in art, music, food, literature and sport, making it much more than just a 48-hour stopover.
The richest horse-race in the world, the Dubai World Cup, celebrates its 21st year this month and visitors from all over the world will flock to the Emirate for this fashion-filled affair. While jockeys will swap turf for surf as Dubai hosts the Beach Polo Cup next month, attracting world-class professional polo players competition in the 12th edition of this competition.
Following the recent annual Dubai Food Festival, we will continue to target Australians through the gastronomy offering in Dubai. With over 5,400 restaurants in the city, and home to a number of world-class venues by celebrity chefs, Dubai is an emerging foodie destination. To leverage this we have developed a Gastronomy supplement, which will be a tool for agents as well as consumers. Look out for the link to the supplement over the next couple of weeks on our AFTA destination page.
However, while we’ve seen a bumper packed calendar of events that are growing each year, we are still seeing an increase in attractions throughout the city, with new restaurants and bars opening, including the just launched Nikki Beach – a global brand famed for its beach-clubs and poolside villas. We will also see Al Habtoor City development, which includes the soon-to-be-opened W hotel, the new Westin and the first St. Regis hotel, which opened at the end of 2015.
To learn more about the destination, agents can contact our regional sales managers who will be continuing with face-to-face agent training throughout April - if you wish your staff to be trained or receive product updates on Dubai, you can contact them directly on:
You can also download a number of factsheets from our destination page on the AFTA website.
With so much going on in Dubai in 2016 it is an exciting time to be selling Dubai, and an even more exciting time to visit.
