Dubai delights with NEW attractions on offer

Dubai continues to open new attractions and experiences to further enhance its offering and provide something for everyone. Visitors can truly experience a new Dubai every time as Dubai as a destination continues to change. This month we will take you through some of the newest openings and service offerings.

Downtown Dubai - Sky Walk

New tourist attraction for adventure seekers with 200-metre high Sky Walk in Downtown Dubai.

The launch of an exhilarating tourist attraction that will especially appeal to adventure lovers with the new Sky Walk, a 200-metre high cantilever observation corridor in the Address Sky View development in Downtown Dubai. Sky Walk offers the unique experience of taking in spectacular views from a height of 200 metres as the visitors navigate the observation corridor in safety harnesses, walking literally 'outside the building’.

The views expand further afield to the upcoming new icon Dubai Creek Tower and of the Arabian Gulf. At level 53 of Address Sky View, and suspended at the imposing height of 200 metres, Sky Walk is another first-of-its-kind in Downtown Dubai.

Address Sky View, a residential and hospitality project, also features the iconic 85-metre-long Sky Bridge, at 220 metres high, featuring eight units of luxurious Sky Collection Duplexes, a 70-metre-long infinity pool and other amenities.

The 30-metre long cantilever Sky Walk, fixed to the structure of one of the two Address Sky View towers, is a half-oval structure offering 45 metres of walking distance. To ensure maximum comfort level of visitors, high-tech tuned damping parts are being fixed underneath the Sky Walk.

Address Sky View hotel and Address Residences Sky View are operated by Address Hotels + Resorts, the premium luxury hotel and serviced residences brand under Emaar Hospitality Group, a subsidiary of Emaar Properties.

More free wifi in Dubai

Visitors of Souk Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai can now enjoy the benefits of Wi-Fi UAE as it rolls out in the marketplace, in both its indoor and outdoor areas for shopping, entertainment, and dining. The service is available to everyone through two options: Wi-Fi UAE, which is free, and Wi-Fi UAE Premium, an affordable paid service. This latest launch expands the Wi-Fi UAE footprint, which has seen users throughout the UAE take advantage of its seamless connectivity.

La Perle in Dubai is now open

La Perle has now opened at Al Haboor City, an aqua-based spectacle La Perle will take place five days a week (Tuesday to Saturday), twice a day, all year long in Dubai, inside of a purpose-built venue in Al Habtoor City, starting 31 August.

  1. The pool at the centre of the stage has a capacity of 2.7 million litres of water, nearly triple the amount of water in an Olympic pool.
  2. The sound system works above and below water, so artists and technicians can hear music and communications underwater.
  3. There are 135 loudspeakers, making for a 360-degree sound experience.
  4. All lights are moving lights with a lifetime of more than 10,000 hours.
  5. The theatre can ‘rain’ inside the auditorium because of two water pumps capable of delivering 9,000 litres of water per minute.
  6. There is a six-metre tall articulated puppet in the show that’s managed by six performers on the floor and one on top.
  7. Everything in the theatre is a projection screen: the seats, the walls, the floor and the building’s dome
  8. Performers will jump from a 25 metre height, performing aerial feats in the air.
  9. To ensure the safety of performers, there will be scuba-divers in the water at all times.
  10. The pool is cleaned by an independent system 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is never emptied.
Sean Connolly is now open at Dubai Opera

Sean Connolly at Dubai Opera officially opened its doors in September. Known for his superlative steak and seafood restaurants across Australia and New Zealand, Connolly will offer his signature protein-driven offerings here, too.
Sean Connolly at Dubai Opera is a contemporary brasserie, with an uncomplicated and produce driven menu serving seafood and steak, which can be enjoyed in the main restaurant, the cocktail Pearl Bar or at the rooftop terrace with an impressive view of the Burj Khalifa. Each design element within the venue explores ideas of the sea, from the oyster with its combination of smooth sensual surface and textured outer surface to the oceanic tones and colours of corals and pearlescent hues.

British born Chef, Sean Connolly, has over 25 years’ experience in the kitchen and has become a household name for both his restaurants and his entertaining TV series’, which are broadcast in 35 countries worldwide.
The 20th Century classic design and architecture of the restaurant combined with the oceanic Australian and New Zealand influences of Sean Connolly’s humble cooking brings down-to-earth dining to Downtown Dubai.

COMING SOON - Al Thuraya Astronomy Centre

Al Thuraya Astronomy Centre is complete and grand opening on National Day, December 2.

Dubai’s Dh50m astronomy observatory opened in September and a landmark astronomy resort in the Marmoun desert is planned for next year, as the city seeks to tap into an enduring fascination with the stars that draw in old and young alike.

The centre will be home to a telescope with a one metre diametre mirror. First announced two years ago, it will have an academy with classrooms and labs, an outside observation deck, a 100-seat theatre an astronomy shop, a cafe and an library. The 2,696 square building located in Al Mushrif Park will have landscaped gardens in the shapes of constellations.

The centre will be educate the public on the Mars 2117 Project, a national plan to build a city on Mars in one hundred years.

Thuraya will be a place where everyone to come and meet together. It’s going to have lots of places where people come and enjoy themselves and create a road map to Mars.

Sheikh Mohammed has given a mandate to go to Mars 2117 to build a Mars city so we want to pave the road for that.
