After another successful Arabian Travel Market in Dubai last month, it was time for the industry to get excited after a number of key announcements for the destination were made at the annual event. Perhaps the biggest of all, was the announcement around the theme parks and Dubai Opera.
The much-awaited launch dates now mean that as a tourism office we can start planning our trade and marketing activity, to gear up towards the opening, and drive our messaging about Dubai as being a true family destination.Dubai Opera, which will be the new home for performances in ballet, opera, classical and musicals, launches on August 31 with the opening night act by Plácido Domingo. Tickets can be purchased directly on the Dubai Opera website.
The world’s largest indoor theme park, IMG World of Adventures, opens on August 15 and will be a huge drawcard all-year round with Marvel Comics, Lost Valley of the Dinosaurs and Cartoon Network attractions for all ages. This indoor theme park have rides and attractions, movie screens, live shows, dining and shopping outlets – tickets are on sale now.
Finally in October, Dubai Parks and Resorts opens to the public. With three theme parks in one location and an on-site hotel, it will be a destination in itself, hosting the region’s first Legoland, Motiongate and a world-first Bollywood Park. You can get a behind the scenes look at the Bollywood theme park by visiting the AFTA Dubai page. In the Motiongate park, this incorporates Hollywood studio legends, Sony Pictures, Dreamworks and Lionsgate, so families will be able to fully immerse themselves in their favourite movies including Ghostbusters, Shrek, Hunger Games, Kung-Fu Panda and the Smurfs, among others. With over 27 rides, a family-friendly hotel and numerous dining outlet, there is no reason to leave! Tickets are on sale via the Dubai Parks website.
These huge attractions will add to the destination alongside a number of big hotel launches this year, including the W at Habtoor City and The Langham on Palm Jumeirah, giving Australians even more reason than ever to stopover in Dubai as well as visiting Dubai as a destination.
