Summer is Dubai Julie King, Dubai Tourism

By Julie King, Dubai Tourism

It is often a misconception that Dubai is too hot all year round for travellers, but Dubai has seasonal weather like any other destination in the world and even during the summer months, Dubai is still a great city to experience.

Year on year, there is something new in Dubai for travellers, but there’s so much to see and do indoors that summer months are as fun and rewarding as any other time of the year. Whether you spend your days shopping for bargains in high street stores such as Topshop and H&M at one of the huge malls, watching the kids pretend to be adults at KidZania, snowboarding down the ski slopes at Ski Dubai, enjoying afternoon tea in the world’s highest restaurant, snorkelling with sharks at Aquaventure or sipping on a Lychee Martini overlooking the Dubai Fountains, Dubai has a range of activities for families, couples or groups of all ages and on all budgets. Summer is also a culturally-rich time to visit, especially during Ramadan, when you can witness and take part in the daily Iftar festivities with the local Emirati’s. Held in traditional marquees, the Iftar festivities are a great way to immerse yourself in the culture and one particular Iftar to try is at the Sheikh Mohamed Centre for Cultural Understanding. In addition, visitors will experience huge shopping discounts and malls are open until 1am during this period. To find out more about Ramadan and travelling to Dubai during this period you can find out more on VisitDubai.com

At Dubai Tourism, we continue to look at selling Summer as the perfect stopover en-route to Europe to shop until you drop with Dubai Summer Surprises, an 8-week long shopping festival ideal for those who love fashion (July – Sept). With over 1,200 stores in the world’s largest mall, there is enough choice for any fashionista! Because we know Australians love to shop, it made sense to bring the popular Fashion Bloggers TV show over to Dubai to film an episode.

Airing next month on E! the popular Fashion Bloggers TV show will feature a whole episode dedicated to the Dubai trip, following Kate Waterhouse, Nadia Fairfax, Sara Donaldson and Zanita Whittington around the city while they carry out their photoshoots and discover Dubai through the eyes of a fashionista. The episode will also highlight activities that include spa treatments, fine dining, lazy days by the beach, desert adventures and of course, shopping!

Catch the episode on July 23 on E! at 9.30pm.
