Dubai Tourism Australia completed its annual Ultimate Dubai famil, in conjunction with Emirates this month, which saw over 150 agents take part in a fun-filled week of activities. AFTA representatives Jo and Belinda also joined the trip for the first time.
With so many new attractions in the destination including four brand new theme parks, this year’s megafamil was packed with adventure and exclusive access for the Australian agents.
Opening with a welcome reception party at the new W Hotel, agents had a prime view of the fireworks to celebrate the launch of the Dubai Canal. While the annual ‘My Dubai Day’ this year took place at the world’s largest indoor theme park, IMG Worlds of Adventure, where agents had iPads topped up with clues from which they had to navigate themselves around the park to earn points whilst experiencing the rides and ending the action at Ski Dubai.
Dubai Parks and Resorts was another new activity in the itinerary this year, with the new Bollywood Parks opening exclusively for the agents, a week prior to its official launch and several hours spent experiencing Legoland. The Shangri-La hosted a fabulous white party at its poolside venue, iKandy overlooking Burj Khalifa.
Arabian Adventures played host to another amazing Desert experience this year with lots of entertainment and a true Arabian welcome in the Desert.
Agents learnt more about Emirati culture at the Sheikh Mohammad Centre for Cultural Understanding, with a traditional brunch, followed by a tour of the souks and a trip up the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa.
The final day including an educational workshop, hosted at the Park Hyatt, with all sponsors presenting their updated and a Q&A session at the end. A preview of the new Dubai Expert Programme due to be launched in February was also given.
After five days of exciting experiences, the Ultimate Emirates Dubai Famil ended with an exquisite farewell dinner with entertainment and took part in Dubai's biggest Mannequin Challenge #mannequinchallengemeydan hosted by The Meydan Hotel, with agents enjoying a wide array of the Hotels cuisine with endless drinks overlooking the racecourse which is host to Dubai World Cup, the world richest horse race.
