In fostering an industry of highly qualified and trained staff, AFTA endorses seeking a Certificate III in Travel as the entry level qualification required for any travel agent consultant or front line travel selling staff.
The Certificate III in Travel qualification structure was designed by AFTA Education and Training in conjunction with the Industry Skills Council for Tourism, Travel, Hospitality & Events (Service Skills Australia) in 2010 for the purpose of fulfilling foundational knowledge required in becoming a competent travel consultant.
There are four key knowledge & skills sets under pinning as pillars in the make up of the fourteen core units, which are supported by three electives relevant to job outcomes.
This modulated format of qualification provides students with an opportunity to acquire the most relevant competencies to their immediate needs and also allows the current workforce to choose relevant modules to up-skill themselves without being forced to take the entire course.
