dUBAI - Workshops to educate agentsJulie King

Director – Asia Pacific, Dubai Tourism

With the earlybird fares now launched, Dubai Tourism is ramping up its activity in the market with a series of workshops in VIC, SA, TAS and WA to educate agents on what is coming up in Dubai, where to stay, and updates on the many attractions and activities in the city in 2015 and 2016. The roadshows have been timed to complement the forthcoming launch of our new brand campaign which you will start to see in the next week or two across TV, Cinema’s, on Digital Billboards and online as well as the recent broadcast and PR activities conducted for the destination. We will be jointly attending all the major consumer expos with Emirates.

With an Opera House and district, Dubai safari, four new theme parks, and the opening of hotels such as St. Regis, Palazzo Versace, Viceroy and the Langham next year, Dubai in 2016 will have even more choice for Australian travellers visiting the city as a stopover or end-point destination for Australians. But we are encouraging travellers to extend their stopover to a minimum of four nights to be able to capture more of this great city – because you cannot do Dubai in just one day or two!

Raising awareness of what there is to do in the destination has been a key part of the strategy for Dubai Tourism this year and we recently brought Sunrise over to Dubai to be the first city in a week of live broadcasts; a world-first in television with Sam and Kochie visiting and broadcasting from five countries in five days. The Sunrise team had a whirlwind tour of Dubai, enjoying a desert safari, Dubai Mall, Burj Khalifa, Dubai Fountains, family attractions such as KidZania and Ski Dubai, bars and spas and the Armani Hotel. The three-hour broadcast, live from Dubai at Burj Al Arab in partnership with Flight Centre had viewers captivated by the Sunrise team’s adventures in Dubai and was the highest rated show of the week.

Next month, Dubai Tourism will be bringing out key social media influencers for its annual instameet, with Australia’s leading travel and lifestyle instagrammers capturing the beauty of the destination. The likes of Lauren Bath (@laurenepbath), Melissa Findley (@melissafindley), Tara Whiteman (@taramilktea) and Li-Chi Pan (@lichipan) to name only a few will head to Dubai for a week of activities which will be posted to Instagram, as well as other social media platforms.

If you want to catch-up on what the Sunrise team got up to in Dubai, you can view a selection of short videos from the destination:

You can also view their behind the scenes videos on their Facebook available here.

Look out for some amazing pictures on Instagram in October!
