AFTA updates National Mobilisation Campaign Toolkit

03 December 2021: The Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) has updated the National Mobilisation Campaign Toolkit to continue to support the travel sector as it pushes for more and ongoing government support.

The toolkit provides members with everything they need to bring the case for ongoing and wider support to their local Federal Member of Parliament.

The updated National Mobilisation Campaign Toolkit can be accessed here

Quotes attributable to AFTA CEO Dean Long:

The widespread global impact of the Omicron variant is just the latest opportunity to reinforce the critical importance of travel experts and highlight the need for ongoing support.

High level briefings with Government last week provided the key insights to cement AFTA’s approach to secure additional support for members. The Government’s priorities are now on skills and workforce renewal and AFTA’s advocacy has been updated to reflect this.

As part of our push for support, it is crucial that we have all AFTA members pulling in the same direction and at the same time.

We have revised and updated the National Mobilisation Campaign Toolkit to provide members and the broader Sector with the latest tools and information they need to drive these critical conversations with their local Federal Members of Parliament.

Whilst the message and call for support remain the same, the language has changed. We are asking for a 'Travel Sector Skills Retention and Recovery Package' to align with the government's priorities. This is highlighted in the leave behind flyer provided in the Toolkit.

We know that having our members share their pleas for support as part of a co-ordinated campaign works. We encourage all members to get out there and brief your local Member of Parliament using the language and messaging in the updated toolkit.

The more members out there pushing our message, the bigger impact we will have in highlighting the critical importance of ongoing sector support for travel.
