AFTA welcomes Labor announcement of support to help Tourism and Travel

The Australian Federation of Travel Agents is looking forward to continuing to work with the new Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, Treasurer Jim Chalmers and Senator the Hon Don Farrell, the incoming Tourism Minister who has already committed to helping to rebuild Australia’s Travel Sector.

Quotes attributed to AFTA CEO Dean Long:

Senator Farrell has been a long standing champion of Australia’s Travel Agents and has worked both behind the scenes as well as on the floor of Parliament to push the need for ongoing support and refine the delivery mechanisms.

Senator Farrell, in a webinar meeting with AFTA members just before the election, highlighted his own focus on listening to the industry to get a sense of what will really help in the recovery and to continue to work with us as we recover.

Importantly, AFTA will continue our bipartisan approach as we need to make sure that all key decision makers in our Parliaments, Federal, State and Territory understand the challenges and the opportunities to support.

Labor and Senator Farrell have been very active in pushing for the support Australia’s Travel and Tourism Sector needs including now as the long and slow road to recovery is underway.

Travel and Tourism is a massive economic driver for the Australian economy and Australia’s travel businesses are key economic contributors within communities in every part of Australia.

Given the economic challenges facing us at a national, sector and community level, the involvement of the private sector in scoping and shaping the solution is more important than ever before.
